Sheffield University Student Accommodation
The Project:
This purpose built student accommodation, built for Sheffield University, comprises of a block of 25 en-suite apartments, made up of 171 rooms. The building is situated within the Endcliffe Student Village area, within a 20 minute walk of the main University buildings and the Students’ Union.
This purpose built student housing block provides a good example of how Structherm’s NSC2a system can be utilised to give a robust and low maintenance finish to a building which may experience heavy wear and tear.
Project Solution:
The structure was constructed from dense concrete block work and 125mm thick mineral fibre was fixed to the block work. The building was then completed with Structherm NSC2a render and the white finish was achieved using acrylic Flesscoat Cortina Normale render.
Challenges:
Due to the large areas which required rendering, the render had to be applied in stages. This meant completing the project in sections to achieve the clean, modern look required.
