Ramada Encore, Barnsley
Background:
The 117 bed Ramada Hotel in Barnsley, was constructed in 12 ½ weeks, using Structherm’s Fastbuild
® precast concrete system. However the building was constructed in such a way that follow-on trades were able to commence their works at week 9, meaning a much faster completion time.
Package:
The building consisted of direct decoration party wall and pre-formed window panels, with solid concrete double spanning floor planks over two rooms to aid speed of installation.
Technical:
The precast concrete wall panels were designed as deep beam walls to allow load transfer to the outer edges of the walls, thus concentrating load down the columns, and reducing the depth of the support steel, leading to savings in the overall steel costs.
On site:

The bathroom pods were installed in liaison with ISG and Prime Pods as part of the overall Structherm Fastbuild package, this meant faster installation and smoother coordination and site management.
