Vanston Place
The building is part of a larger refurbishment scheme called Vanston Place in a conservation area in Fulham. It is an affordable housing scheme of 20 apartments for shared ownership. The site used to house a block of ten, four bedroom, run down flats built in 1922 which was demolished to make way for the new block.
The main contractor was Durkan who have been a preferred partner of Southern Housing Group since 1995.
The Design
Structherm Fastbuild™ was proposed for use by the architects Biscoe + Stanton who were keen to use MMC to save time and money. The Fastbuild system fulfilled the requirements set out by the project, and the original blockwork design was replaced.
The Results
The building produced an excellent range of test results: impact sound insulation of 52 DnT,w + Ctr, dB and airborne sound insulation of 54 DnT,w + Ctr, dB. The clients and consultants involved in the project were satisfied with the results overall.
On average the feedback score was 80% suggesting a high level of satisfaction. When questioned if they would use Fastbuild again, the clients responded that they would. All of the people involved in the project were impressed by the speed of construction.
