East Boldre

Background:Before Refurbishment
New Forest District Council has been working with Structherm on a rolling programme of refurbishment since 2002, having been very impressed with the Structherm service.

Project Details:
Built in 1947, these Airey properties for had become extremely thermally inefficient. Furthermore, another cause for concern was the unevenness of concrete panel substrate and the reveals not always being vertical.
The properties were chosen to be upgraded in line with the Decent Homes Standard.

Solution:
The structural cladding system has been fixed using the clear spaning method, where the panels span vertically or horizontally between beams or columns. Primary fixings are fixed directly into the loadbearing frame. The panels have been finished with brick effect render to the ground floor and a marble aggregate finish to the first floor from Structherm’s Italian range.

Results:After Refurbishment
Heating costs have been reduced for the tenants by as much as £9 per week due to thermally efficiency of the properties being dramatically improved. Both the tenants and the council are very happy with the work carried out.
