John Port School
Project Details:
Ashbourne Building at John Port School, Etwall, Derbyshire is a Hills construction which, prior to refurbishment had concrete cladding panels considered potentially dangerous. Eliminating damp and condensation and increasing thermal efficiency were also high priorities and of course, improving the aesthetic appearance of the building.
Solution:
Structherm provided a cost-effective solution, funded under the ‘New Deal for Schools’ initiative. Design work was carried out by Structherm, in association with the school’s own architects.
For the first phase of the work programme, Structherm replaced over 600m2 of panels using the robust and highly thermally efficient Structural cladding system.
The refurbishment included:
- The removal of all existing concrete and plywood cladding panels
- The inspection and repair of building frame
- Installation of new Structural cladding system
- Installation of new overtrims to existing windows
Results:
John Port School is now a more comfortable, structurally stable building with a pleasing appearance completed in a short contract programme.
