Kingshill Primary School
Project Details:
Kingshill Primary School suffered large scale destruction through a fire started by arsonists. The blaze caused extensive structural, water and smoke damage to the school, forcing staff and pupils to move into temporary accommodation at another school.
The original building was built in the 1960’s using the Vic Hallam method of construction, comprising of a modular timber frame and flat roof.
Solution:
The insurance company stated that the building must be replaced by ‘like for like’. With this in mind, the Structherm structural cladding panel was used as an external skin to a new timber frame. The cladding panel is extremely robust and designed as a two-way spanning, high tensile component. The thick rendered face contributes to
the system’s flexural stiffness and exceptional impact resistance.
The school has been finished in one of Structherm’s Italian marble aggregate external wall coatings, along with a contrasting Macerend Brick Effect.
