Structherm | Structural Cladding
The unique Structherm structural insulated cladding system is a cost effective method of extending the life of a structure. Whether used as an overcladding or re-cladding system, this system provides a viable alternative to demolition.
Our Unique Panel
Structherm’s unique panels are immensely strong and rigid, yet lightweight (easily handled by one man) and are designed as a two-way spanning, high tensile component that may be installed vertically or horizontally.
Panels can also be bent to large radius curves. There are various standard ways of fixing panels to particular building structures, please request our Datasheets for further technical information.
The construction of each panel is based on a core of rigid insulation set within a galvanised or stainless steel welded wire space frame composed of a series of warren trusses interconnected by vertical and horizontal wires.
Areas of Application
- Full external re-cladding to replace defective or inefficient cladding
- Full external over-cladding to upgrade defective but basically serviceable cladding (improving structural safety and thermal continuity)
- Re-configuration of building facades to reduce or enlarge glazed areas (modifying solar gain, heat loss and glare)
- Balcony and walkway enclosure (converting external space into usable internal floor area)
- Parapet creation and extension (improving safety at roof level)
- Services enclosure (protecting services infrastructure and improving maintenance)
- New large area
The Structural Cladding Panel has three applications – standard single panel, double panel and strip-rendered single panel, please request our Datasheets for further technical details.
Building sectors include:-
- Housing refurbishment – low and high rise
- Schools, colleges and universities
- Office and commercial buildings
The Benefits
- Unrivalled impact resistance of 10N/m.
- No need to decant occupants as work is carried out externally.
- Strength to weight ratio – the prefabricated panel has a typical finished weight of less than 50kg/m˛ equivalent to 0.48kN/m˛ (a lighter weight system is also available).
- The panel has an extremely high flexural capacity achieving large spans of up to 4m without secondary support.
- Existing foundations do not need to be modified due to the low mass of the panel.
- The double panel application when compared to traditional cavity wall construction has 38% less wall thickness and 83% less mass.
- Structural components all have a typical assessed minimum life of 30 years plus.
- The system offers very good resistance to the vertical spread of fire and the BBA certificate confirms a 30-minute resistance
Quality Assurance
Our structural panel system carries a 10 year warranty and has a minimum design life of 30 years as approved by BBA. All Structherm systems are subjected to rigorous testing and are fully patented. Every project has an individual quality assurance procedure, supported by:
- BS EN ISO 9001:2000
- Professional indemnity insurance
- Product guarantee insurance
- A close working partnership with Approved Installation Contractors
