Cranfield University

The Project:

Built on land previously used as a playing field, Cranfield University’s new sports facility is an excellent example of how Structherm’s NSC1 system can be used to create a modern and contemporary looking building.

Project Solution:
The building frame was constructed using a hot rolled structural steel frame with cold rolled steel infill studding.  Cement particle sheathing boards with 70mm thick polystyrene were then fixed to the steel frame.

The building’s striking white finish was achieved using Flesscoat Cortina white acrylic render.

Challenges:
Despite the large areas involved the modern and clean look was achieved rendering a complete elevation in a single day.  The NSC1 system provides a seamless finish as it requires no movement joints.

Results:
On completion of the project, all those involved were very pleased with the outcome and commended both Structherm and the AIC on their professional manner and would be confident to recommend Structherm to other organisations.
